Tuesday afternoon we toured Stockholm. We visited the City Hall where the Nobel Prize Banquet is held. We also toured the Vasamuseet which is where this ship that sunk in the 1600's 10 minutes after setting sail for the first time. I remained under water in the Baltic until the mid 1900's when the finally had the technology to raise it. It was amazing preserved as well as the remains of some of the people who went down with it. Very interesting museum... My dad would have LOVED it!
We also stopped and took pictures overlooking the city which are above. Really a beautiful old city... On of the few in Europe not affected by the world wars. But as you can tell from the pictures, we didn't see the sun in Stockholm.
Tuesday night we had a reception at the US Ambassador's residence. Above in one picture is Ambassador Wood. The official photographer there was from Mississippi...Nice guy! Afterwards I had dinner with a group at the Oprah House restaurant.... It was a beautiful restaurant and the food was amazing and the wine was the best I have ever had!! What a way to spend our last night in Stockholm!
Wednesday was our travel day. We are now in Berlin.
